Ports Police Commissioner Tasks Newly Promoted Officers

The Commissioner of Police in charge of Western Ports, Kayode Aderanti has tasked the 37 newly promoted police officers under his watch to rededicate themselves to their duty and be more had working.
The call was contained in a statement made by the commissioner at a recent ceremony where the lucky officers were decorated with their new ranks at the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) headquarters in Lagos.

The call was contained in a statement made by the commissioner at a recent ceremony where the lucky officers were decorated with their new ranks at the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) headquarters in Lagos.
The commissioner, while congratulating the newly promoted officers also stressed that, with their elevation, their rights and privileges of being promoted have been met by the police service has been upheld.
Beneficiaries of the promotion exercise included, four officers were promoted from the rank of Deputy Superintendent Police to Superintendent of Police, two from Assistant Superintendent to Deputy Superintendent and 33 from Inspector to Assistant Superintendent.
The Police Commissioner admonished the promoted officers charging them to be more dedicated. “I will urge you to be dedicated to the service of this country, to be loyal, steadfast and hardworking and with good records more promotion will come your way. In this command, what we expected of you is to go back to your duty posts and work very hard. We know you have been working hard but you have to rededicate yourself and work harder. It is our wish that good luck will be with you”.
“To me this promotion is a kind of paradigm shift from what you were before. It changes the whole thing; the person in you and added more responsibility, and you all have to give back because one good turns deserve another. Therefore, it is payback time. You are all aware of security challenges in this country and in spite of this challenges the IG deemed if fit to promote officers, so efforts must be redoubled too.”
“Depending on how we look at it, some will see promotion as a right while others see it as a privilege but depending on how we look at it, it is both right and privilege. You may have the right to be promoted and at the same time don’t deserve it so your right and privileges to be promoted has been met.
“Notwithstanding the numbers of years it took you to be promoted it doesn’t count but what counts is that this thing has come to be and the thing is that we are all here hale and hearty”, he pointed out , even as he acknowledged that the quantum of promoted officers was unprecedented.
“When I saw the signal, it was so bulky that I have not seen such a thing that large number of deserving officers will have this kind of promotion at the same time and in spite of the security challenges in the country,” he said.
