Speaking with Shipping Position Daily in his office on Monday, the Public Relations
Officer of the command, Barrister Chinedu Ogbonna, disclosed that the command was able to meet and surpass its revenue target because of the motivation that has been received from the Controller General of Customs, Alhaji Abdullahi Inde Dikko.
Ogbonna said that this has caused officers of the command to always perform at their optimum, including working twenty four hours. "The CG keeps tab of the revenue with his comptrollers on daily basis, it is like monitory a heartbeat, and a heart that is monitored always can not suffer from any desease" he explained.
However, following the recent increase in the overall yearly custom revenue target of N1trillion, Ogbonna said that the monthly revenue target for the command has been increased to N7.5billion in 2012 as against the N4billion it got in 2011 and the N3billion it got in 2010.
He expressed optimism that the command will achieve its target because it is the largest car importing terminal in the country.
Speaking further, he said "in PTML here we work both Saturdays and Sundays, the quality of the area controllers that are usually posted here is also impeccable, they have always been passionate men, and that is why there is no fast place to clear vehicles like PTML" he said.
