Dogara, who is former chairman House committee on Customs, stated this at an interactive session with newsmen in Abuja.
The lawmaker described tax waivers as unconstitutional, saying that the nation had lost billions of Naira to tax waivers and concessions over time.
“So much revenue that is supposed to accrue to the nation’s account is being waived for individuals and companies by the federal government,” he said.
Dogara noted that concessions and waivers were the main problems with Customs revenues, adding that Nigeria as a nation should stop such waivers.
He said that tax concessions and waivers should first and foremost be approved by the National Assembly because they had to do with revenue generation.
The lawmaker stressed that such waivers and concessions should be stopped to avoid depleting the nation's revenue base.
