Salt manufacturer, Royal Salt Nigeria Limited has donated a patrol van to boost traffic control at the Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
The taskforce which was set up in June by the Customs Area Controller, KLT Command, Comptroller Frances Enwereuzor, has received tremendous commendations by stakeholders and port users operating from KLT.

The taskforce which was set up in June by the Customs Area Controller, KLT Command, Comptroller Frances Enwereuzor, has received tremendous commendations by stakeholders and port users operating from KLT.
Speaking shortly after the presentation of the patrol van to the Commissioner of Police, in charge of Western Ports; Mrs Hilda Harrison accompanied by the Customs controller in charge of KLT command yesterday, the General Manager, Royal Salt Nigeria Limited,Mr. Joslin Couthinho said the Toyota Hilux van was donated to the taskforce in order to help reduce traffic gridlock along the road.
Couthinho noted that apart from traffic gridlock, it will also help tackle security challenges at KLT.
Speaking further, the general manager assured stakeholders and the joint taskforce that the company will continue to support the fight against traffic gridlock and other security challenges within the road connecting the terminal.
He added that "as far as the company continues to grow, it will always be ready to assist the taskforce in ensuring that KLT is in order".
Also speaking, the Customs Area Controller, KLT command , Comptroller Frances Ekwereuzor called on other companies to emulate what Royal Salt Nigeria Limited has done in ensuring that the terminal is in order.
Ekwereuzor reiterated by saying "this is an historic day because when I came to KLT there was no taskforce in place and as a result of the traffic situation on the bridge we have to set up the taskforce"
"I know the importance of synergy between inter agencies and it is yielding result as we speak, we are also happy about it as well"
"My message to other companies at KLT is for them to be part of the progress, they should know that something good has happened today ", Ekwereuzor stated.
Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police in charge of Western Ports, Mrs Hilda Harrison lauded the KLT controller of customs for her effort to set up the taskforce, saying that such innovations will help move the maritime sector to an enviable height.
She added that the vehicle donated to the police will go a long way in addressing some of the anomalies within the port environment.
In his address, Divisional Police Officer in charge of KLT, Mr. Akpole Evoh said that as the head of the taskforce, stakeholders have confirmed their efficiency in its operation.
He also said that" the Royal Salt Nigeria Limited stands out as the most active company in supporting the taskforce within the community and as I speak, no other company has surpassed their gesture in this regard", Evoh acknowledged.
