As a result of the lingering scarcity of petroleum products in the country and the closure of one of the largest tank farm in Lagos; Capital Oil tank farm; petroleum tanker drivers and their marketers have now found a new haven at the MRS Oil tank farm at the Tin Can Island Port in Lagos.
Shipping Position Daily last week noticed the heavy traffic gridlock caused by a long queue of the petroleum tankers stretching from the Liverpool Bridge to the Tin Can depot of the oil marketing firm.

A management staff of the company confided in our correspondent that since the closure of Capital Oil tank farm, the company's product allocation from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has increased.
He told our correspondent that there has been an increase in the number of petroleum tankers coming to the depot because the company has been consistent in making sure that Premium Motor Spirit is well circulated to avoid scarcity.
The Pipelines and Products Marketing Company (PPMC) had recently announced that it has increased petroleum products supply to private depots to ease distribution challenges in the country. This move saw depots like Capital Oil and Gas Industries Ltd, MRS Oil and Folawiyo Energy from loading 100 trucks a day to 300 trucks to ease distribution challenges.
But our correspondent was reliably informed last week at the depots that the share of the MRS Oil has increased further since the closure of Capital Oil and Gas facilities.
