Kano State Government says it has concluded arrangements to train 4,000 teachers on COVID-19 safety protocols preparatory to the reopening of schools in the state.?
Alhaji Danlami Hayyo, Executive Secretary, Kano State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), stated this at the inauguration of a two-day training exercise for 50 master trainers in Kano.
Hayyo disclosed that the master trainers would step down the training to the local government levels, to expose principals, head teachers and teachers in basic and post basic schools. .
He said that each of the master trainers was expected to train 90 teachers in the 44 Local Government Areas of the state.
According to him, the training is being implemented in collaboration between the board and Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC).
Hayyo noted that the training would complement the state government ’s efforts to curb spread of ?the pandemic, adding that the aim was to prepare head teachers for a safe reopening of schools.?
He revealed that sanitiser, soap and hand washing facilities would be distributed to the schools, to ensure compliance with COVID-19 protocols. ??
The secretary said that the state government had approved N3.2 billion for the construction and renovation of class room blocks, while N880 million disbursed to the 44 LGAs for rehabilitation projects in some selected primary schools.
Mr Muhammad Ali, one of the participants, commended the gesture and promised to share the knowledge.
