The Shippers’ Association of Lagos State on Monday alleged that the NPA had been arresting trucks at Lagos ports over illegal parking in the Lagos ports.
Mr Jonathan Nicol, the General Secretary of the association, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the situation was affecting the operations of its members.
He pleaded that NPA should make provisions for trucks to move freely in the ports.
“We do not want to see NPA clamping our trucks. NPA should make provisions for our trucks to move freely within the ports.

Mr Michael Ajayi, NPA General Manager (Public Affairs), however, said that a driver must have done something wrong for his truck to be clamped.
“If any truck is parked illegally, such a truck will be clamped,” he said.
Ajayi said that laws had to be enforced so that truck drivers would not constitute themselves into nuisance to other port users.
He said that the Lagos State Government had introduced the traffic laws to ensure discipline.
“If a truck driver parks illegally, it is the duty of NPA officers to enforce the law,” Ajayi said.
