Snake Island Integrated Free Zone (SIIFZ), strategically located in the main harbour of Lagos, has been listed as an active member of the Africa Economic Zones Organization (AEZO).
The AEZO is an association of leading African economic zones and institutions in charge of developing, managing, and promoting economic zones. With members across 42 countries on the continent, the body facilitates cooperation between member zones and government institutions to achieve strategic socio-economic objectives.
Commenting on the milestone, the Managing Director, Snake Island Management Company (SIMCO),Semiu Akorede said: “In the past two decades, free zones have played a critical role in Africa’s economic growth, and we have a remarkable track record of attracting sizable investments and boosting socio-economic activities across West Africa. Our attainment of active member status in AEZO reiterates our commitment to long-term sector collaboration and policy advocacy.”
Established in 2005, SIIFZ has substantially contributed to Nigeria’s free zone scheme. Major activities within the economic zone include terminal operations, marine services, manufacturing, and industrial development.
As an active member, SIIFZ has full voting rights at the annual AEZO general assembly while positioned for mutual benefits, including support for go-to-market initiatives, knowledge-sharing, access to research and data, and strategic networking.
