After adjudging it as the best vehicle importing terminal at the Lagos port, stakeholders in the clearing and forwarding of the maritime industry have expressed their commendations on the services provided by the Ports and Terminal Multiservice Limited (PTML) a vehicle importing terminal at the Tin Can Island Port in Lagos State.
Frontline licensed customs agent, Mr. Lucky Amiwero in a chat with Shipping Position Daily in Lagos last week said that the terminal is faster in terms of clearing of consignments from the port as a result of its modern day electronic gadgets when compared to other RORO terminals.
Compared to the other terminals that were inherited from the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Amiwero described the terminal as a modern one that was built by the owners without contribution from the authority.
‘’PTML is a modern port and the port was built by them. They did not acquire anybody’s port which I will say is a plus on their part. It is a faster port in the area of clearance of vehicles with the latest electronic devices’’
‘’PTML has invested heavily to ensure that they meet up in service delivery to their customers and they have set up a standard that must be commended’’.
He further stated that “from the inception of the port, clearing of vehicles from the terminal has been tremendous’’.
Amiwero who is the Managing Director of Eyis Resources Limited also said that the Five Star Logistics Terminal has also tried in vehicle clearance from the port, he however urge them to improve in the area of facilities.
According to him, ‘’Five Star Logistics Terminal is also a good terminal but we believe that they should upgrade in the area of process and procedures by modern standard    but they cannot be compared to PTML by all standard’’, he noted.
Andy Nwachukwu an importer also commended the PTML in the area of security and safety of vehicles that are been imported to the terminal.
Speaking, he said that “the two major ports in charge of vehicles importation have lived up to expectation but I commend PTML because they are faster in the area clearing of consignment’’.
“The terminal has also performed in the area of security and safety because I have never experienced pilfering or vehicle vandalism since the inception of importing vehicles into the country” Nwachukwu said.
