Ports & Cargo Handling Services Ltd., a member of the Sifax Group, has assured that said it is ready to handle the influx of cargoes at the nation’s ports.
Spokesman of the Sifax Group, Mr Oliver Omajuwa, stated this in Lagos that the company was expecting more ultra-modern mobile harbour cranes called Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTGs).
“In the next two weeks, we will take delivery of the remaining five RTGs in the effort to facilitate movement of cargoes.

“In the next two weeks, we will take delivery of the remaining five RTGs in the effort to facilitate movement of cargoes.
“The RTG operations will lead to smoother and more effective operations. It will also improve safety and increase productivity.
“Containers that are booked for examination between 8.00 am and noon can be dropped same day before 2.00 pm, while bookings made after noon will be dropped at night same day for examination the next day,’’ Omajuwa said.
He said that the initiative was in pursuit of the company’s vision to achieve excellence and in line with the Federal Government desire to achieve the 48-hour target for clearing cargoes at the seaports.
Omajuwa said that the 48-hour target was achievable if importers could declare the actual things they imported.
“It is possible if importers to declare correctly.
“Even with the right equipment to work, if the papers not correct, definitely, that consignment cannot be cleared,’’ he said.
