Eyewitness report confirmed that the customs officer met his sudden death in the midst of a surging crowd of port users who wanted to gain entrance into the ever-busy Ashaye car park.

Eyewitness report confirmed that the customs officer met his sudden death in the midst of a surging crowd of port users who wanted to gain entrance into the ever-busy Ashaye car park.
One of the witnesses confirmed to Shipping Position Daily that the crowd pushed the police officer; a situation that made him to lose balance and his official rifle (AK47) fell.
"He forgot to uncork the gun, the gun fell, and he rushed to get hold of the gun and mistakenly pulled the trigger, a situation that aggravated more shots."
"The customs officer was mistakenly hit by a stray bullet".
A senior customs officer who pleaded anonymity confirmed the unfortunate incident.
However, spokesperson of the FOU zone A in Ikeja Mr. Uche Ejesieme confirmed the unfortunate incident even as he added that details were still sketchy as at press time.
He also added that the family of the deceased has not been informed
