Transportation Varsity Daura,  Source Of Relief To Katsina Indigenes – Radda

Gov. Dikko Radda of Katsina State Governor,  says the Federal University of Transportation Daura will be a source of relief to the indigenes of the state.

The governor disclosed this when he received the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Umar Adam-Katsayal on a courtesy visit.

“This is especially with the current hardship that followed the removal of fuel subsidy” he added.

Radda stated that the establishment of the university was a blessing as it brought education closer to the indigenes that would otherwise had to endure cost of transportation even with the current inflation and economic crisis.

“The removal of fuel subsidy has brought about an untold hardship to Nigerians and Katsina State is not an exception.

“Our indigenes are going through difficult times with inflation everywhere. Inflation has also increased the cost of governance on our own side.

“It is the reason why I introduced a pricing unit in the Government House in our efforts to block leakages especially when it comes to contracts’ award and procurements.

“The university is going to offer specialised courses on all aspects of transportation. Our indigenes will take the opportunity and attend these courses for the development of our nation,” he stated.

While commending the pioneer vice-chancellor of the university for his commitment and doggedness, Radda assured his administration’s support in all ways possible.

According to him, during his visit to the Minister of Transportation and that of Education regarding the university, they assured him that the institution would commence academic activities without further delay.

Earlier in his remarks, the vice-chancellor told Radda that their visit was to brief him on the visit of the National University Commission’s (NUC) Resource Verification Team to the university.

He stated that the state government was a major stakeholder of the institution, saying,”this is because even the land used for building of the university was given by the immediate past government of Aminu Masari.”

He, however appealed to the governor to continue to support the university.

The vice-chancellor, his team and that of the NUC resource verification officials also visited the State House of Assembly and the Emir of Katsina.
