A top official of the NPA Tin Can Island port who spoke with Shipping Position Daily under anonymity disclosed that the ban was a fall out of the implementation of the International Ships and Ports Facility Security (ISPS) Code.

Our correspondent also gathered yesterday that the ban placed on tricycles at the port has gone on for over a week now and that it has led to the re-introduction of commercial bike riders otherwise known as 'Okada' at the port.
One of the riders who spoke to our correspondent under anonymity said that for over a week now, bike activities has been thriving at the complex even as he added that the police has not obstructed their operation.
According to the commercial bike rider, the ban on tricycle at the port complex led to the delay in business activities for port users, and that bike riders are only filling up the vacuum.
However a tricycle rider, who simply identified himself as Iyke, said that the NPA was unfair in their decision to evacuate tricycle operators from Tin Can Island port.
He lamented that “we don't know why we were thrown out of the port complex and it has made life miserable for us".
"We are law abiding citizens, we follow instructions given by the authority yet nobody from their end has come to explain to us why they decided to eject us from here". He said.
