Philippine Navy rescues 121 Passengers from Stranded Vessel

On 14th January, the Philippine Navy rescued 121 passengers that were stranded aboard the vessel ML J SAYANG 1 after it experienced engine failure and was left adrift. The vessel was missing for 6 days.

THE ML J SAYANG experienced engine troubles on 8th January near Pangutaran Island, Philippines. Although initial efforts to repair the engine were successful, the vessel suffered further mechanical issues, which led to it being without communication or fuel.

Fishermen passing through the area spotted the stranded vessel and notified authorities. The BRP Jose Loor SR managed to locate the distressed vessel at 12:00 PM local time on 14th January. The vessel was reported to be stuck around 5.4 nautical miles off Siklangkalong Island, Tawi-Tawi.

The BRP Jose Loor SR found 121 passengers aboard the stranded vessel. The passengers were in sound physical condition, although they were reported to be psychologically distressed due to the recent ordeal. They were provided with food, water, medical attention, and an internet connection to contact their families.

The vessel was then towed to safety at Taja Island, Tawi Tawi. At around 5:00 PM local time, another vessel, ML Arneza, arrived, delivered additional fuel and provisions, and towed the ML J SAYANG 1 to its destination at Turtle Islands, Tawi Tawi.

Engine Failure Causes Offshore Vessel to be Grounded at Newgale Beach, Wales

The offshore supply ship MTS TERRAMARE was grounded at Newgale Beach on 14th January due to engine failure. There have been no reports of pollution or injuries to the crew.

The engine failure on the vessel occurred when it was engaged in cable work in St. Bridges Bay near Newgale Beach in Pembrokeshire, Wales. The vessel went adrift, and inclement weather and high tide in the area worsened the situation. Five-foot waves washed over the vessel till it was driven onto the pebbles at the beach.

The HM Coastguard was promptly alerted, and an RNLI lifeboat, Norah Wortley, quickly arrived on the scene. The would-be rescuers found the vessel to be firmly aground and crewmembers safely ashore. The lifeboat then returned to base.

Norwegian Oil Tanker Stuck on Rocks Near Glasøya, Safely Refloated

The vessel was en route from RORVIK to KRISTIANSUND, Norway when it ran aground on rocks near Glasøya. Fortunately, no damage was sustained by the tanker. The tanker remained grounded until the early morning of 15th January, when it refloated.

KYSTBUNKER II is a 2017-built tanker with a length of 46 metres, a breadth of 10 metres, and a gross tonnage of 498.
