Laker aground at the same spot she grounded year ago

Self-discharging bulk carrier KAYE E. BARKER ran aground at around 0950 LT Apr 24 at Muskegon Lake entrance fairway, Great Lakes, at the same site she ran aground a year earlier. This time, too, the ship was loaded with some 25,000 tons of stone. Laker was refloated at around 1900 LT, safely reached Muskegon and was berthed at around 2115 LT, no leaks reported, probably no damages, too. The ship reportedly, grounded on sandy bottom at position where depth should be safe.

The Zodiac Maritime operated vessel INDIAN PARTNERSHIP, in the Ceram Sea, while on course to China carrying bauxite ore, hit an uncharted reef which pierced her forward ballast tanks on the starboard side at UTC 19:05 on 22nd April 2023.

After hitting the reef, the vessel proceeded under her own power to shallow water near Misool Island, Indonesia where she is now safely afloat at anchor. Water ingress was contained to the ballast tanks. Divers are at the vessel now and are conducting underwater repairs. The vessel is stable.

The mixed nationality crew of 22 are all safe and unharmed. There is no pollution.

The crew on board, with support from our shore based teams, are working closely with local authorities.

One Dead, Two Injured in Trawler Fire in Iceland

A fire aboard a trawler in the harbor at Njardvik, Iceland claimed the life of one crewmember and left two others injured, according to first responders.

At about 0200 hours on Tuesday, a fire broke out aboard the trawler Grímsnes at the port of Njardvik. The vessel was at the pier and was due to depart later in the day, according to local media.

Four crewmembers escaped safely, but two were injured, including one with serious burns on his back. The seventh member of the crew did not survive.

According to the captain of the Grimsnes, the deceased was a 49-year-old Polish national. The victim had worked with the company for ten years and served on the trawler as a cook, the master told Visir. He is survived by his wife and a teenage son.

Turkish Suezmax tanker seized by Iranian military in Gulf of Oman

Suezmax crude oil tanker ADVANTAGE SWEET was seized by Iranian forces in Gulf of Oman on Apr 27, according to Iran military statement. Tanker is accused of hitting Iranian boat, with several men on board being injured, two reported missing. Boat wasn’t identified. Tanker is en route from Kuwait to Houston USA, apparently in load, she was seized in waters halfway between Iranian and Oman coast. US Navy operating in the region demand release of Turkish owned and operated ship, claiming that tanker, at the time of seizure, was in international waters. Tanker indeed, was in international waters, last AIS position received at 0930 UTC Apr 27. Iranian forces are taking tanker to Iran “for investigation”, they say.
