Two crude oil tankers collided with two fv in Japan sea

Two crude oil tankers collided with fishing vessels 20-25 nm east off Ulsan, Korea, Japan sea, in the morning May 9.

Crude oil tanker SM NAVIGATOR collided with 39-ton fishing vessel at around 0300 LT, fishing vessel remained under way and returned to home port under own power. SM NAVIGATOR is cruising off Ulsan since May 5, she continued cruising. Tanker left Ulsan on May 5, so she should be in ballast.

Tanker SWAN collided with 34-ton Korean fishing vessel at 0440 Seoul time, fishing vessel was seriously damaged but managed to get to her home port under own power. SWAN was allowed to continue voyage, she’s bound for Nakhodka.

Ferry destroyed pier ramp, Indonesia

Ferry MUTIARA PERTIWI 1 struck ferry pier ramp at Ternate port, western North Maluku, Indonesia, in the afternoon May 10, while maneuvering to dock. Ramp with one of the towers collapsed. Nobody was injured, ferry was taken to anchorage. Preliminary report names strong current and ferry’s high speed as main causes of accident.

Mega container ship and tanker contact in Western Scheldt

Mega container ship EVER GLOBE contacted tanker KRITI EMERALD at 2330 LT May 6 on Western Scheldt in front of Bocht van Bath, Netherlands. Both ships were proceeding downstream towards sea, contact was caused by so-called sucking effect, when ships under way come too close. Understood the damages were slight, one of the ships lost her gangway (EVER GLOBE, probably). Both were anchored off Vlissingen in outer anchorage, and while EVER GLOBE resumed voyage to Hamburg in the morning May 7, KRITI EMERALD was still at anchor as of 1500 LT May 7, she’s en route to
