A 59-year-old truck driver, Christian Nwachukwu, was yesterday charged before an Apapa Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly stealing an empty container valued at N750,000.
Nwachukwu, who lives in Amukoko, Apapa, is standing trial on a charge of stealing.
He, however, entered a not-guilty plea.
Prosecutor Uche Kalu told the court that the accused stole the container, property of Ralph Enterprises Ltd., Apapa, at 7.00 a.m. on March 1.

According to Kalu, a sergeant, the accused stole the container from where it was kept at No. 38/40, Dillion St., Kirikiri Industrial Estate, Apapa.
He said the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State.
Chief Magistrate A. K. Shonubi granted the accused bail in the sum of N500, 000 with one surety in like sum.
He said the surety should show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government as part of the bail condition.
The case was adjourned to Oct. 5 for further hearing.
