The topmost echelon of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) yesterday dispelled rumours that some persons who are seeking elective positions in the coming elections chapters may have been anointed by either the national executive, the national president of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the association.
National President of the association, Prince Olayiwola Shittu made this known yesterday at a one day stakeholders’ interactive session with the theme; Leadership services and ANLCA transformation agenda, which held at Mobil Pegasus in Apapa Lagos.
The ANLCA boss said that the Board of Trustee and the National Executive Committee of the association are working together to ensure that the forthcoming election is free and fair.
He reiterated that the national executives of the association have no special interest in any of the contestants, assuring that he cannot endorse or support any particular individual in the process that will lead to the election.
He charged members of the association who were present at the event to challenge him whenever the need arises for clarity, pointing out that the constitution of the association is dynamic.
Prince Shittu called on members of the association to cooperate with the BoT and the Association Electoral Committee [ASECO] to move the association to the next level.
In his contribution, Chairman, Board of Trustee of the association, Chief Henry Njoku called on contesting candidates to love one another in the election, stressing that it is not based on tribal sentiments.
Chief Njoku also assured that the BoT does not have any anointed candidate in the elections and called on members to vote wisely.
He promised to hold on to the constitution of the association as a tool to ensure a free and fair election, even as he stressed that there would be no room for favouritism at the polls.
The BoT also commended the ASECO chairman; Alhaji Babatunde Abdulazeez Mukaila for a job well done in the preparations for the elections, even as he stated that there is no room for doubts by members of the association as regards the transparency of the process.
He however appealed to contestants to embrace peace.
The meeting had in attendance, national executives of the association, the BoT secretary Taiye Oyeniyi, Western Zone Coordinator Ozo Chukwura and some chapter chairmen of the association.
