ANLCA Urges Government To Provide Social Amenities

In a bid for Nigeria importers and freight forwarders to comply with government’s rules and regulations, there is the need for more infrastructures to be put in place and for corruption to be reduced to its barest minimal.
This was the advise of the Apapa 1, Chapter, Chairman, Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents,[ANLCA],Sir John Ofobike in Lagos yesterday.
Ofobike said that lack infrastructures in the country have led to non- compliance in the country and in the port business respectively.

This was the advise of the Apapa 1, Chapter, Chairman, Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents,[ANLCA],Sir John Ofobike in Lagos yesterday.
Ofobike said that lack infrastructures in the country have led to non- compliance in the country and in the port business respectively.
The ANLCA boss told Shipping Position Daily that government must do more in providing the necessary facilities for it citizenry, adding that most of the developed nations have been able to provide the basic needs of the populace.
‘’The government of other nations like Malaysia, England, Japan, France and USA that we always make reference to have all make provision for  necessary social amenities for their people which of course are a social contract. The social contract is to provide amenities in an enabling environment for their people and it has reduced corruption in their country’’, he stated.’
According to him, the government should create an atmosphere for equal opportunities among its citizens for it’s to work out effectively.
‘’I believe if the government can provide good roads, good health system, water, constant electricity supply and security think the issue of non compliance will not be much in business most especially in port operation’’.
The Chairman noted that his own investigation has revealed that lack of basic amenities has made Nigerians to cut corners.
He said that tax payers’ money are not being utilised to provide infrastructures to the citizenry of the country.
He also lauded the Lagos state government for providing some amenities for resident of the state, adding that he will continue to support Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola’s administration.
Ofobike also expressed support government’s move to restrict container trucks, adding that such moves will not hamper the smooth flow of containers in and out of the ports.
He however urged the state government to provide security on the roads pointing out that there is need for government to repair the street lights that are not functional in a bid to compliment security.
“We must start from somewhere for things to work out for everybody in this country that is why the government should provide security for the drivers plying the highway at night and also there is need for them to repair all the street lights on the highway to compliment security’’, he noted.
