Chinese cargo ship sank off Fuzhou, 11 crew rescued

CHINESE CARGO

Cargo ship HONG YUN DA 58 issued distress signal and reported sinking due to water ingress, at around 0100 Beijing time Nov 17 some 2 nm off southern coast of Nangan island, Matsu islands, southern East China sea, east of Fuzhou. At 0130 Master reported that the ship is sinking, 11 crew abandoning the ship into life rafts. Joint Taiwan-China SAR operation was launched, with deployment of SAR ships. By 0540, all 11 crew were rescued, 2 by Taiwanese SAR, 9 by Chinese SAR, all are safe. They’ve been already transported to Fuzhou.

Lighter collided with bulk carrier, sank, 3 missing

Lighter ship identified as FARDIN-1, loaded with some 600 tons of coal sank in Mongla port, Bangladesh, after she collided with, according to local news sources, bulk carrier HANDY PERTH, in the evening Nov 15. Three out of six crew of lighter ship went missing. Lighter ship completed coal loading from berthed German freighter and was under way, HANDY PERTH was also under way, maneuvering to leave the port. It was said, that lighter ship simply didn’t notice moving HANDY PERTH, and moved right to HANDY PERTH bow.

HANDY PERTH left Mongla shortly after accident, sailed downstream and anchored in Bay of Bengal off Kunga river mouth. As of morning Nov 16, she was in the same area either anchored or already under way, status “For Order”, probably waiting for investigation results.

Chinese cargo ship sank in South China sea, crew safe

Cargo ship HANGSHENG 88 sank in the afternoon Nov 12 40 nm off Huilai, eastern coast of Guangdong province, China, South China sea. 13 crew abandoned the ship and went into lifeboat, shortly after they’ve been rescued by fishing vessel, directed by Guangdong MRCC. All are safe.
