Following the recent resumption of the sales of vehicles at the popular ‘National’ area at the Tin Can Island Port, the automobile dealers association at the park has constituted a three- man caretaker committee to oversee its affairs at the premises.
Shipping Position Daily gathered that, the trio of Ade Marcus, Moses Okeke and Remi were selected and adopted to run the activities of the place before an election will come up.

Sources at the Tin Can Island Port told Shipping Position Daily in Lagos last week that the three men emerged as a result of their commitment to ensuring that the association regains the auto sale premises after last year’s encounter which almost made the dealers to lose the premises..
Our reliable sources also noted that the election will be held before the end of the year.
“The tenure of the former executives of the association expired during the struggle to regain the Con Oil Filling Station premises at the Tin Can Island port and before the end of the year, I want to believe that an election will be conducted’, he noted.
According to him, dealers at the park are still trying to recover from the break adding that plans are still ongoing to make sure that peace exists in the premises.
“Things are a bit shaky as a result of the closure of the place by the concerned authorities, but I think that very soon peace will return to the premises, the election is not actually paramount at the moment, but we are still observing the situation at the park”, he added.
However the Con Oil Filling Station now stands as mediator between the Landlord of the port, Nigeria Port Authority (NPA) and the Tin Can Motor Dealer Association over payment of rent on the premises.
It would be recalled that armed naval officers under the aegis of LAPARC stormed the premises and carted away scores of vehicles from the park in November, 2011 as part of efforts aimed at decongesting the Tin Can Island port.
